Maverick to produce a mini series on the 80’s
A miniseries about the 1980s produced by Madonna and Guy Oseary‘s Maverick Films for Nbc is coming on tv.
Maverick will develop a four-hour mini serie and Oseary, Maverick TV’s Michael Rosenberg and Mark Morgan will exec produce in association with NBC Studios.
Madonna will be involved in the project, but whether she takes a producer credit will depend on her schedule. Singer is expected to tour within the next year.
Storyline for the mini will follow a group of twentysomethings as they travel through the decade, starting with John Lennon’s assassination and ending with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The untitled 1980s mini continues NBC’s decade-at-a-time exploration of pop culture.
“The ’80s is the hot decade right now, not just for those of us who came of age during the period, but for those currently coming of age as well,” said Gaspin, NBC‘s longform exec VP.
Gaspin said landing Maverick as a producer was ideal, given Madonna‘s status as “the decade’s premiere icon,” as well as Oseary’s expertise on the decade.
“The ’80s are a big part of my life and have served as an inspiration for so much of my work,” Oseary said, adding that he felt “passionate (about being) a part of this project.”
On the feature front, Maverick, a producer on MGM’s “Agent Cody Banks II,” is working on “Rodeo Girl” for 20th Century Fox; “Twilight” with MTV and Paramount; and “My Sassy Girl” for DreamWorks.
