Memories of a lifetime Madonna fan
MadonnaTribe reader Richard from Brisbane, Australia, has sent us this bit of Madonna memories to share it with the Tribe. here is what he wrote:
“Hi there
I’ve been reading boards and messages from people who say that Madonna has raised them over her 20 year career. I would like to share my Madonna-Life with fellow Tribers, if you wish.
I’m 17 (and yes that is young!) and I’ve grown up with Madonna. Since I was 2 months old, I was dancing to . I was always the big fan in my family. I used to put on Madonna when I was 3 at 2am… and switch on the vacuum cleaner, and dance.
I had the honour of gracing her presence (even though she didnt know I was there!) at the Girlie Show at ANZ Stadium in Brisbane, Australia on November 24th 1993. I was a mere 6 years old… God Bless My Parents!!!!
I remember when I was told Madonna was coming to Australia – I cried – and I would not stop nagging my parents to go. So we went, my entire family!! We had tickets in the nosebleed section…but I didnt mind. It was MADONNA! It started to rain…as the circus music came on. I was covered by a garbage bag….(yes…a garbage bag) to protect me from the rain. Madonna rose from the floor with the whip and mask and I cried like a BABY! I was a mess until the end of Fever….(keep in mind, I was 6 years old!) From that moment in time, she changed my life. Ever since, she’s been my backbone.
Bringing me up though the hard times – realising I was gay and coming out – her music really inspired me to become who I am today. And she guided me through some amazingly happy times – Birthdays, Parties, Performances. She is the main reason I have done 11 years of performing. Its sad that I will not get to see her this time around but hopefully in the future, I can once again grace her presence.
I will continue to love and adore her for woman she has become and the icon she is. She is truly the reason I am alive and kicking today. Her music has really saved me from making some disastrous decisions.
For that, I am eternally endebted to her.
Thanks MTribe for letting me express my memories and feelings to other Madonna fans.”
Thank You.
