More from Israel
After months of speculations and rumors, officials on Sunday confirmed that singer Madonna will include Israel as part of her 2004 Re-Invention Tour.
Madonna is expected to perform here in late August or September. The number of shows, dates and locations has not yet been determined – though gossip has her coming for four concerts in the Negev country park of Timna.
“We are pleased to confirm the rumors. Madonna will be touring during the coming summer and fall,” said Caresse Henry, the singer’s longtime manager, in a letter to Hed Arzi, Madonna’s local recording label.
“Madonna has already begun rehearsals and cannot wait to get back on the concert circuit,” wrote Henry. She said Madonna’s concerts will feature songs from throughout her career. The last time the superstar singer performed in Israel was back in 1993.
Local promoter Shuki Weiss, who last week denied to The Jerusalem Post knowing anything about Madonna’s planned tour, will produce the singer’s concerts here. Weiss has over the years brought such acts as Macy Gray, 5ive, Westlife, Alanis Morissette, and the Cranberries.
In related news, Madonna’s husband Guy Ritchie is supposed to arrive in town next week to scout out locations for a movie. Both Madonna and Ritchie are followers of the Kabbalah.
