More from Lisbon by Tonybecks
Our friend Tonybecks is back with another live report from Lisbon – fresh from MadonnaTribe Forum
“Ok guys – I’m back – cheers to Sharon for translating my madly hurried texts which looking back on them in my ‘sent’ files were pretty much gibberish!
She got it all right other than the bit where Madonna said “Are you all right? Are you enjoying yourselves?” – she said that in Portuguese, not “Are you enjoying yourselves Portugal?”.
Naturally that got just about the biggest cheer of the night.
The VIP Platinum section filled right up before she came on so it was a lot more packed. They were practising filming the crowd and checking out all the different over-the-crowd angles for at least an hour before she came on. The crowd were loving it.
Portuguese fans seem to like banners – there were loads, and the crazy Aussie fans who slept out had some good banner action.
In general the Portuguese fans were absolutely lovely – they all had me humbled as virtually everyone is at least bi-lingual and they were all extremely friendly. Even the security and police were polite and spoke in English to us embarrassed non-Portuguese speaking types.
The show really was one of her best that I’ve seen (and as that was number 11 for me in 4 countries, I think I’m allowed to say that). Her voice was spot on throughout and there were no mis-haps with missed cues or screwed up lines.
There was a definite air of “something different is gonna happen tonight” but it didn’t materialise, although my heart did skip a beat when then “…a material, a material, a material…” bit at the end of Material Girl which merges into the start of Hollywood started much later than normal. Oh well – who wants to hear I’m So Stupid anyway?!
I had no idea so many people were listening in last night waiting for news so I’ll make a bit more of an effort tonight to keep you updated more frequently (I’ll claim my text expenses back off the company LOL) and let you know what weird and wonderful stuff happens on the very last, final *sob* show of the tour.
Not doing the 12 hour (yes, that’s what it was in the end) queue today so we’ll be less stressed over where we end up but hey, we’re still gonna be within 5 metres of the stage whatever time we get there!
Text y’all later…
