More on the pre-show setlist
Let’s talk again about the songs that were featured in the setlist played before and after the shows of the Re-Invention Tour. Our friend and Community member DyeAnotherDay dropped us a line to add some further information to the list we posted a few days ago.
“You can also add to your list “This Must Be the Place” by Talking Heads. This was played before the show, before “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” very close to “Ashes to Ashes.”
Closer to the actual start of the show, they played a Brian Eno song that someone sitting next to me said was “Ambient Music # 6.” I can’t personally vouch for this, but it is the song that bears a passing resemblance to the Smiths’ “How Soon is Now.”
Right before the show, there was this techno instrumental that I am positive is a track from the “Love Profusion” Maxi CD. I mentioned this several times on the forums with no comment ever. This was the song that was played immediately before the lights went out.
“In Da Club” was a cover – it wasn’t 50 Cent. I don’t know about the London shows …but in New York the first song that came up when the lights came up was the Clash “Radio Clash.” “In Da Club” was after that.
There’s been so much talk about the pre- and post- show music. It was great, like everything else about the Reinvention.”
Thank you DyeAnotherDay for sharing these additional info with the Tribe and for bringing us shivers remembering those great Re-Invention nights.
Also thanks to fellow fansite madonnalicious.com that adds that “Glamour Girl” by Praga Khan was played pre-show, and what was originally thought to be 50 Cent’s In Da Club was infact a cover version called “In Da Pub” by 50 Pence!
