M’s Italian Holiday
To the surprise of many people, fans and press included, Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie had a short private holiday in Italy during the last days of December 2003.
The couple first spent part of their italian holiday in the romantic city of Venice, staying at the luxurious Hotel Cipriani, situated on the Giudecca island of Venice. The only way to access this hotel is by motor boat.
Later in the day they had lunch at Harry’s Bar in the heart of Venice, near Piazza S. Marco.
After Venice, Madonna and Guy reached Rome, where they walked in the streets, admiring the beauty of the “eternal city”.
Ritchies also, visited churches and museums, and met old friends, such as the Swept Away co-star Adriano Giannini and his mother, director Livia Giampalmo, who showed and explained to the couple paintings and art pieces displayed in the Santa Maria in Trastevere church, where Madonna was struck by the beauty of a painting of the sixtieth century called “Madonna con il bambino” (Madonna and Child).
