Demure she is not, especially when there’s a world tour to promote.

Madonna, 45 years old and a mother of two, stares seductively at the camera in the publicity shots for her latest set of concert dates.

Judging by her 18th century hairpiece, her decolletage and the chaise longue, she could be trying to recreate the look of the movie Dangerous Liaisons.

However, according to friends, she is wearing a mixture of styles in order to represent her development from pop princess to icon. ‘They are meant to represent all the different images she has had,‘ says one friend.

The image is supposed to chime with the theme of her concerts – The re-Invention Tour – in which she will return to many of the songs from the early part of her career. The tour announced yesterday begins in Los Angeles on May 24, and she will visit the Earls Court Arena in London on August 18.

Tickets for that show will go on sale on Friday. Further world dates are due to be announced.
