Stars Nominated For New Hall Of Fame
As MadonnaTribe reported a few weeks ago, a British Hall of Fame for Music which will honour rock and pop stars from the last five decades is to be launched.Pop legends who have left their mark on modern culture will be inducted into the institution after being chosen by the public.Jamie Theakston will present five television programmes which will each showcase a different decade from the 1950s to the `90s.
Each Channel 4 programme will feature 10 artists nominated for the Hall of Fame by a panel of music experts and it will be up to the public to vote for their favourite.
Theakston said the judges had a tough time coming up with a shortlist of nominees.
“There are people who have been missed off and there are a couple of surprising names. You have to wait and see on the night,” he said.
The first five Hall of Fame members have already been chosen by the music panel for their unquestionable impact.
Each one represents a different decade and they were named as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Madonna, and U2.
The weekly two-hour nomination programmes start in October and will feature vintage footage and exclusive interviews with a host of stars and names from the industry, including funk star James Brown, British singer Billy Bragg and multi-talented musician Prince as well as modern artists like Robbie Williams and The Thrills.
The shows will culminate in a programme staged at the Hackney Empire in London which will feature live performances.Source: www.ananova.com
