The 1990 Cover Gallery – Part One
1990 has been a fabulous year for Madonna, she appeared in the blockbuster movie Dick Tracy, recorded the album I’m Breathless which had the mega hit Vogue as the first single.
Madonna also toured the world that summer with her most provocative show ever, The Blond Ambition Tour and closed the year with her first greatest hits compilation, The Immaculate Collection. With all these projects under Madonna’s belt, 1990 is also the year that produced an incredible number of Madonna covers on magazines around the world. Today we start a new gallery here on M-Tribe with some of the most relevant and nicest covers from 1990.
The first two covers we show you today come from Usa. Forbes from October 1st 1990 asked readers if Madonna was America’s smartest Business Woman while the second magazine, Glamour declared Madonna as one of the women of the year.
A few stories were told at the time about this cover. One said that during the shooting Madonna was chewing a gum and as you can see it shows, covering the famous “tooth-gap” and it was reported Madonna, was quite mad about this incident.
Another rumour widely reported in the media at the time that Madonna’s gap was intentionally air-brushed by the people of the magazine. So she refused to attend the women of the year dinner held in her honour by the magazine because of it.
