The Immaculate reports from Paris – First day of passion
Hello Tribers!!
This is my first report from Paris and I must say I had a great day. The sun was shining to welcome Madonna‘s first show here and the public was great. A friend of mine got the luck to be in the pit and he was jumping and dancing from the very moment he got the news.
People entered the venue from 7.00 pm and we got the surprise to see for sale on merchandise stools inside the new black French do it better T-shirt. We were wondering if Madonna was going to wear it during Papa Don’t Preach but we saw the return of the classic Kabbalist do it better one.
Madonna‘s hair was slightly different tonight, she had the hair parted exactly in the middle and a little bit more curly during the first section in which she wore again the lilac corset she premiered in Manchester.
While walking in the lobby French designer Jean Paul Gaultier and a friend passed by. It was so cool because the were just buying drinks like everybody else. French singer Mylene Farmer was also present tonight.
The documentary crew with Jonas Akerlund filmed fans all the time before the show. They were looking for fans in fancy outfits or with fancy hairstyles.
As for the dialogues during the show a
t the beginning of Express Yourself she said “vous êtes prêts? (Are you ready?)“and during Material Girl she went on with the usual oldie but goodie thing asking then for help with words: “Are you gonna help me? yes? oui? yes? oui? yes? oui?” Many times during the song she put the microphone towards the audience to let them sing the song instead of her.
.
For Don’t Tell Me the French backdrop with the Tour Eiffel was back and the Big Ben was gone. just as the Bitter Sweet Symphony sample, which was replaced with the “french” music
used in the first Us shows.
A funny moment came during Like A Prayer she said: “ We’re getting this party started. I was going to say that this is the no sitting down song but you are already up“, she told the adoring crowd.
: In Mother and Father she asks the public if they’re having a good time in French adding another phrase in French:”Do you believe in love?” while in Imagine she messed upthe words. She said: “Imagine there’s no possession it isn’t hard to do”. Then she rapidily corrected herself saying the right words which are:” I wonder if you can”.
After Papa don’t preach she talked to the crowd as usual telling them they were brave for staying the “fosse” with people pushing. She also said something else about people smoking during the concert that we didn’t catch completely. It was something like “You can smoke in here but you can’t drink ‘something’, I’ll have to speak to your president about that.
After the “Reinvent yourself” screen was closed down she said: Thank you. Merci beaucoup. Goodnight.
Outside the venue, Nrj the radio that is sponsoring the Madonna concerts here in Paris, was kindly distributing promotional Madonna/Nrj posters and yummy Nrj logo shaped candies by Haribo.
That’s it. It was a great show. I met a lot of new friends and many old ones. I spotted people wearing our “Tribers do it better” t-shirt as well.
See you tomorrow here on Tribe to share another Madonna show as it happens with my fellow Tribers.
