The Sun on Madonna (again)
The day after calling her “Materi-ill Girl” and showing her looking pale and tired, UK newspaper The Sun features another article about Madonna saying: “the images have shocked her legions of fans”.
Oh well, she looked great until last week as everybody remembers from the latest agency pictures. She’s certainly on the edge with less than two weeks before opening night, and if you remember we had similar reports before her “Drowned World Tour” started.
Enough said, here’s the article from the Sun, worth a read because it also contains some minor spoiler informations about the tour itself.
What’s up with Madonna?
Looking gaunt in a loose-fitting tracksuit and hiding under an outsize truckers’ cap, could Madonna be pushing herself too far?
The Queen Of Pop is famous for reinventing herself but her latest incarnation has fans worried for her health. Leaving an all-night meeting of the mysterious Kabbalah faith she follows, the 45-year-old mum of two looks thinner than ever before. Displaying large bags under her eyes, she was helped into a car by husband Guy Ritchie after the weekend spiritual marathon in Los Angeles.
The images have shocked her legions of fans.
One said last night: “I’ve never seen her looking so tired. She has always kept fit and taken great care in her appearance. She’s looks like she’s pushing herself very hard and could do with a good meal.”
Madonna’s camp have rubbished any notions about sudden weight loss and say her faith has nothing to do with her appearance. A member of her US team told The Sun: “The truth is Madonna is putting in a huge amount of work to prepare for her upcoming Re-Invention tour.
“She is a perfectionist and doesn’t want to disappoint her fans. She looks worn out because she IS worn out.
“Mentally and physically preparing for a huge world tour isn’t a walk in the park. It drains the hell out of you. She’s maybe been pushing it a little bit hard but she knows her limits.”
Last night Madonna’s official spokesman was keen to play down any rumours of ill health. The aide said: “She has been working really hard 24/7 for the opening of her tour.”
The tour is said to be Madonna’s most ambitious yet. It kicks off in Los Angeles on May 24 and takes in 50 venues around the world. She is rehearsing 12 hours a day to get in shape for opening night.
The show boasts acrobatic routines, numerous costume changes and large set-pieces based on the teachings of her religion.
A source close to the singer explained: “This tour is like no other for Madonna.
“She usually focuses on an album she has out at the time when it comes to choosing which songs to play and which outfits and dance routines to go for. But this time she has decided to rework her catalogue, going right back to the early days. It means many more hours in the studio rehearsing. She is determined to present her old hits in new and refreshing ways.
“The fans will love it because they want to hear all the old material.
“And Madonna is such a professional she won’t do those tracks unless she is totally happy with them.”
The latest pictures come a day after snaps of her looking drawn as she headed for another tour rehearsal.
Sporting a Kabbalists Do It Better T-shirt she had the same dark circles under her eyes.
Madonna has become increasingly devoted to Kabbalah and goes to meetings every day. She credits the faith with changing her life. All-night Kabbalah sessions start with students kneeling down with their heads bowed in front of a rabbi who guides them up the “spiritual ladder.”
They continue with a preparation period where they study writings before discussing topics including astrology, reincarnation and demons.
A key subject for discussion is the “positive flow of energy” which Kabbalists believe can heal them and stop the ageing process. They believe that negative energy can be absorbed by swinging a chicken above their heads.
