Toronto Re-Invention Ball Review
Our friends torontophoenix and torontoboy went to the Re-Invention Ball in toronto last night .
“It was fun as they played a mix of songs from her entire career, including both album versions and remixes. It was really cool to dance to “White Heat” on a booming club system!
There were video screens playing music videos and stock footage, and at the entrace, a projector displaying images from the X-Static Process photoshoot.
We were VIP (which didn’t mean much) and when we first got there Madiva was in the VIP room be interviewed by Rogers, a local free cable-access channel run mostly by volunteers. (By no means whatsover a major media outlet.) Madiva was dressed in the poofy-haired dominatrix outfit from HN and carrying a plush chihuahua.
At about midnight, all of a suddent a scottish bagpipe band came out and started playing … it went on for a few minutes then all of a sudden the Remixed&Revisited version of “Into The Hollywood Groove” came on and Madiva appeared on stage in the Re-Invention Tour “into The Groove” outfit. Madiva pranced around the stage dancing awkwardly and every once in a while picking up a bamboo stick. When it was done, there was sporadic clapping.
At about 12:45 or so, Madiva came back dressed in the Blond Ambition “Express Yourself” costume and performed EY. I admit, it was a bit better since he knew the entire choreography by heart. The crowd liked this one a bit better. Than her previous performance (maybe because many haven’t seen the tour yet and didn’t understand the ITG performance.)
Overall it was a fun evening of celebrating Madonna.
I just wish it was held at a better location.”
