Tour Memories: Madonna who?
Our reader Mattan from Israel sent us his Madonna tour related experience. Actually it’s the story of how his admiration for Madonna began….
“When Madonna got to Israel for her Girlie Show I was 13 years old, and since I was a bit of a
nerd back then I did not know who Madonna was. I was getting out of a
cello lesson and my father was supposed to pick me up from Jerusalem’s
down town. I was crossing the street when the traffic lights were red
(as always), and I didn’t look to the sides when I passed and a black
limo breaked hysterically to avoid hitting me. They ended up cracking my cello a bit. The front door opened and the
driver who was a bit stressed by what has almost happened shouted at me,
while I just stood there stunned and stared at the car. I thought I saw
a “little man” sitting inside wearing a bandana and sunglasses on his head
and holding a book in his hands and I though to myself who would wear sunglasses at 10PM and tries to read like that?
I told my best friend about it on the phone as I got home and
the next morning she called me all hysterical to tell me to open the
newspapers. I did and found out that that little guy in the Limo was not
a guy but Madonna who was leaving her hotel. I told my pal that I have no idea who that Madonna
girl was, so she gave me 2 CD’s to listen to – The Immaculate Collection
and Erotica, and I just fell in love! (I also discovered I knew some of
her 80’s hits but didn’t know they were hers…) and I never returned
her CD’s, but today I got another 300 of her Albums, Singles and Maxi
singles.
I also traveled to Paris and London to see her Drowned World tour and I’m
gonna go to Europe again in case she won’t get to Israel this summer.
That’s it.
