Tour on Top
With perfect timing, music bible Billboard reports the final gross (probably estimating for the last couple shows, at least) in an article headlined by “Madonna Ends Reinvention Tour On High Note” featured in its Billboard Biz section.
Billboard reports that the tour is set to be the top-grossing trek of 2004, grossing $124.5 million and being played to 880,000 people, according to the worldwide producer, Clear Channel Entertainment’s touring division. “Madonna’s Reinvention tour was a brilliant success on every level,” Arthur Fogel, president of CCE Touring, told the magazine.
The article also reveals that the Tour was particularly hot in the U.K. In London Madonna grossed $9.8 million from four sellouts at the Wembley Arena, $6.3 million from two sellouts at Earls Court in London. Another $5.1 million came from the two sellout concerts at the MEN Arena in Manchester.
The North American Re-Invention Tour leg is topped by New York (six sellouts at the Madison Square Garden grossingd $12.7 million). Another $7.9 million came from four sellouts at the United Center in Chicago, $7 million from two sellouts at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The three sold out opening show at the Forum in Los Angeles brought another $7 million, and $6.4 million came from four sellouts at the Worcester Centrum Centre in Worcester.
