Tribe Press Preview – Pausini was going to record Like A Flower in 2002
In the latest issue of Tv Sorrisi & Canzoni magazine singer Laura Pausini talks again about the song Mi abbandono a te (Like A Flower) that is going to be released in Italy this week end on her new Album Resta in Ascolto
We discover that Laura was going to record “Like A Flower” a long time ago for her english album but she felt it wasn’t the right time.
“When I was in Los Angeles, I’ve been submitted this song
but Madonna was looking for an arstist that would not sing it in English.
And I didn’t want to use it on my English language album (From the Inside 2002)
At that time I wasn’t interested. Then, after that record, producer Rick Nowels told me that maybe it was time to reconsider the project.”
It is really interesting to know you originally said no to Madonna.
“Do you want me to name all the people to whom I said No”, says Laura.
“It’s amazing for me to sing a song written by Madonna, an artist that risks everything everytime and always finds new ways.
She followed EVERY detail of this collaboration, but she gave me the freedom to re write the lyrics”.
Mi abbandono a te evokes the feel and the arrangement of The Power of Goodbye
and the Italian lyrics mixed with the english ones are once again a hymn to inner feelings. “It’s not dedicated to a beloved person, but I speak to the inner peace that I keep looking for”.
