Tribe Review – Sex Bomb
We finally had the chance to review the new unauthorised documentary film about Madonna called Sex Bomb available in Uk stores.
The documentary opens with mixed footage from Madonna’s interviews and press conferences and we learn that Dj Mark Karmins, who co-produced Madonna’s first album is one of the special guests that will tell Madonna’s story throughout the programme, which
is divided into different segments: Madonna – the dancer, the singer, the artist, the interpreter, the rebel, the mother, the icon etc…
John Pfaff, a high school classmate from Rochester, tell us that some of the guys used to joke on her name twisting it from Madonna Ciccone to Madonna Silicone for her “phenomenal figure”. Linda George, a make up artist who worked with her at the beginning of her career is also interviewed.
Mark Karmins recalls the famous Danceteria years, when he met Madonna and she gave him her demo with the song Everybody to play one night.
In the “Madonna the singer” segment, Bob, who worked with Madonna in the recording studio tells how the first album was recorded revealing a little secret. If you listen to the album her voice is “layered twice to make it stronger”, he says, adding “something that usually happens with new artists who work in the studio for the first time”.
Another engeeneer, Michael Fossenkemper, this time from the Bedtime Stories album, reveals how she recorded the songs on that album and hints about fights between Madonna and producer Dave Hall
