Tribers Reviews: What Madonna said Last Night
Our community member Torontophoenix has just sent in his review of last night’s show.
“If Madonna is “over”, you’d definitely not know it in Toronto!
The crowd went INSANE as Madonna took to the stage for the first time in the T-dot since 1993’s THE GIRLIE SHOW. Having already seen the show on June 20 and June 21 in NYC, I must say that last night’s show in Toronto was MUCH MUCH BETTER!
Madonna’s voice was AMAZING … the two days off between Chicago and Toronto must have done her well! When I saw her in NYC, she sounded just a wee bit off during Frozen, but last night she hit it dead on!
Madonna was also very chatty and playful with the crowd. Right before Mother&Father, she said “You know, one of the last times I was here they tried to arrest me. That wasn’t very nice … but I’m a good girl now” and she gave a mischievous smile/laugh as the crowd roared. (Of course Madonna was referring to her Blond Ambition tour stop in Toronto when police received complaints about the show being too lewd.
After Papa Don’t Preach, before she sings the “Do I have to change my name?” part from American Life, she took a drink of water as the crowd went nuts again. She laughed and said “Oh Toronto, I don’t know why I stayed away so long!” (Madonna’s DWT didn’t have a Toronto stop). She continued to chat asking “who here is from Canada?” Of course the crowd screamed. She then asked “who here is not from Canada?” and again loud screams. Madonna then dedicated Crazy For You “to all my fans, wherever you are from” or something like that.
As for reviews, if you check Toronto Star and Jam you’ll see that the Toronto critics loved Madonna as well … and this was only the first show! One down, three to go!”
