True Blue Album Cover Concept Tear Sheets

Madonna Tribe is happy to show its readers these fabulous “tear sheets” that our community member diesel6888 came across a while ago. These sheets show some of the concepts taken into consideration for the cover design of the 1986 Madonna album “True Blue“.

As you can see, another shot by Herb Ritts, later used for the Papa Don’t Preach single, was also taken into consideration, but we’re very happy with the final choice, that in time has proved to be one of the most iconic images of Madonna ever.

As you can see among the “test covers” there is also a totally unique and unreleased image of Madonna by Ritts.
