1,000 Number One Smash Hits
Last night night the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was back on his throne as Elvis Presley‘s “One Night” became Britain’s 1,000th No.1 single, The Mirror reports. It is Elvis’s 20th No.1 and secures his place as the best-selling solo artist of all time. But Sir Paul McCartney can claim to have featured on more No.1s than any other artist – 23 in total. He’s hit the top spot as a solo artist and as part of a duet, trio, quartet and quintet.
The best-selling female artist is Madonna with 10 No.1 hits and the best-selling single of all time is Elton John’s Candle In The Wind ’97 which sold 4,864,611.
