A closer look at the Frida Kahlo exhibition in London
Our friend and Team member Sharon aka Wannabe went to the Frida Kahlo exhibition at London’s Tate Modern last night. Here’s her report.
“It is an amazing exhibition. I love the way they have set it out. It’s like a Journey through her life. They hand you a small booklet (the blue pic), this has exactly what is written on the walls in each room. I have included the section from room 4 which explains the ‘Birth‘ painting fom Madonna‘s private collection.
The picture used for the flyer is also the other Madonna painting in the collection: ‘Self portrait with a monkey‘ which is in room 9, with all the Self Portraits for which Frida was most successful.
For me the surrealist work she did near the end of her life was most inspiring. She had some crazy dreams while in pain in hospital and the weirdness that poured out onto canvas was captivating. As you walked round you felt like you’d delved into every emotion in her quite traumatic life.
Well worth a view if your in London before it finishes on October 9th.
Sharon.”
Special thanks to the one and only Sharon for this report
