American Wife
Contactmusic.com publishes today another excerpt from the new Vogue Us Interview with Madonna:
Pop superstar Madonna enlisted a galaxy of stars, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin and Stella McCartney to help her pay tribute to Cecil Beaton during a two-day party honouring the late photographer.
The Material girl hosted the “Cecil Beaton weekend of folly” at her home in Ashcombe, England – where Beaton once lived – and forced her celebrity guests to prepare a show in his memory.
But her favourite tribute was by the Coldplay singer, his wife Paltrow and designer McCartney, who performed a mock version of Madonna’s hit American Life.
She says, “I hosted a Cecil Beaton weekend of folly.
“I invited all my friends and we all had to put on a show. Gwyneth, Stella and Chris composed a song together, which was brilliant – a spoof on American Life, except they called it American Wife.”
