Another enthusiastic documentary review from our forum
Our community member VAL15 who had the chance to attend the documentary premiere in New York last night, has posted an interesting review on our forum that gives us an idea of the musical numbers from re-Invention tour that are actually included in the film.
“Mother and Father, Like A Prayer, and Music were really edited, probably only half of the songs were shown if that. Vogue, Nobody Knows Me, American Life and Lament were the full songs. Imagine was only half the song, but then half of THAT was played over images of the wartorn countries and kids. It comes right at the end and its so so sad but really f*cking good… they show the end of it with her on the stage. Into The Groove was mixed in with Holiday in the final piece of performance footage that will have you sobbing because it follows directly after the saddest ever speech she gave backstage before the last show.
The movie was amazing, I loved it. I don’t even know where to begin, there are so many little awesome, awesome things. I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed so much or have been so touched and just overall genuinely enjoyed a movie like I did this one tonight.
It was an amazing experience seeing it live on a big screen with a huge crowd and her in the room with us. It was the closet we’ll ever get to reliving the RIT. I can’t tell you how many times we SCREAMED and clapped, my hands were so sore from slamming them together like there was no tomorrow . SO MUCH FUN. and uhhh before the movie during her speech Madonna said ‘You better all get up and dance when the dance numbers come on‘.
We were totally feeding off the fact that we knew she was in the room and making sure we were yelling and screaming for all the parts we loved just so she knew it had our approval and we loved it.
When I left I felt that much better and happier about life, and that’s really what it’s all about. Yeah!”
