Curtis Knapp, 20 years later
The iconic shot of Madonna by Curtis Knapp used on the front page of Island Magazine back in 1983 – one of the first Madonna covers ever – comes back on the cover of a magazine: have a look at the Issue 37/June 2005 of B&W, the specialist magazine about black and white photography that presents “Shooting Flowers and Faces”, a feature about the work of Knapp.
“Twenty years ago, leaving a career as portrait photographer to New York City’s in-crowd, he moved to Japan, where he rose to the top of its competitive world of commercial photography. Now he has returned to the U.S. preparing for a comeback, he is curious to find out if his minimalist style is still in vogue.”
If you live in the US you can find B&W Magazine at your local newsstand, and at Borders and Barnes & Noble.
