“It’s no surprise that Madonna tops the global album-chart this week with her new effort “Confessions On
A Dance Floor” – United World Chart reports today – “the album gets a furious start with first-week sales of 1.233.000 copies and besting the nearest competition by more than 900.000!
It is also the second biggest weekly sales by an album this year after Coldplay’s “X&Y“, which sold 1.643.000 copies in the week 25.
Carrie Underwood’s debut “Some Hearts” storms at no.2 (320.000 copies) following by Green Day’s live-set
“Bullet In A Bible“, which bows at no.3 (249.000 copies).
Speaking of singles, Madonna breaks a record: in the second week at no.1, her “Hung Up” grows 7,5% to 517.000 points – never before a track had so much points in a week.
“Hung Up” sold more than 250.000 singles and downloads during the last week
and gets enormous airplay around the world.
Far behind follows Robbie Williams’ “Tripping” at no.2 (down 4% to 273.000 points) and “Don’t Cha” from the Pussycat Dolls is still at no.3 (down 7% to 248.000 points). Also James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful” remains steady at no.4 (down 0,5% to 223.000 points) with biggest climber of the week being “My Humps” from the Black Eyed Peas, which bolts from no.14 to no.5 on a 49% increase to 215.000 points.
