Here’s the first update of the day about how the new Madonna album and single are doing in the charts around the world brought to you by our chart expert PierPinto
• FRANCE
Madonna is again the leader of the albums, singles, airplay and download charts in France. “Confessions” is already Platinum (300,000 copies) with more than 350,000 copies shipped according to Warner France.
Certifications are based on the number of copies distributed to retailers by the record company and not on the actual number of copies sold in stores (this applies to all countries). “Confessions” has sold a total of 200.000 copies in France so far, 50,000 this week.
The 143,500 copies sold by “Confessions On A Dance Floor” last week are the second highest debut ever for a foreign artist in France, second only to Michael Jackson who debuted at #1 with “Invincible” in 2001 with 166,000 copies sold in its first week.
“Confessions” also debuts at #1 in the French chart of the most downloaded albums.
The “Ray Of Light/Music/American Life” boxset leaves the Top 200 chart. “American Life” leaves the mid-price album chart. “Hung Up” remains steady at #1 in the downloads chart and “Get Together” debuts at #12. Confessions On A Dance Floor Hung Up Get Together RoL/Music/Am life American Life |
