Date set for second Live Aid concert
Sir Bob Geldof has confirmed plans for a second Live Aid concert, which will take place on July 2nd, it was reported today.
UK newspaper The Sun claims that the concert will be called Live 8, as a reference to the G8 summit of world leaders in Scotland on July 6th.
Previous rumours suggested that Geldof is hoping to sign up acts such as U2, Coldplay, Madonna and Robbie Williams for the event.
A source told the newspaper, “Geldof has taken on one of the biggest projects of his life with this – but it’s a brilliant idea. He’s the only man who could pull it off, and it is the best way of forcing Bush, Blair and the heads of the world’s most powerful countries to put their money where their mouths are.”
“Is it just me or is Mr Bod Geldof really Mr Incredible?”, writes Victoria Newton on her Bizarre column today. “He appears to have pulled off the impossible – and set a date for Live Aid II.”
