Don’t ever stop making music
MadonnaTribe friend and reader Angel Love is back from the book signing at Borders and he’s ready to share his story with MadonnaTribers.
“I got there at 1pm. I was about the 26th adult in line. A lot of people brought children with them. I did see the other winner who wrote into the Tribe (La Cubanita), but I didnt get a chance to say Hi. But if she does read this, she must tell us about the woman who was in line after her that was a DEADRINGER for Madonna. I dont think she was trying to be a ‘wannabe. But her hair was blond and styled very similar to Madonna’s (like when she did the CD signing for Music in LA in 2000). All of her facial features looked exactly like Madonna. I kept looking at her every chance I got. I also kept noticing other people’s faces when they looked at her. They were shocked. At one point, she had to get off line to go to the bathroom with her child. One woman’s mouth literally dropped! She was that amazing.
Anyway, back to the real Madonna! She showed up around 3:15. Paparazzi were all set up to take tons of pics. She read to a group of invited children and took photos with them as a group at the end. All of this took place behind a red curtained area away from the contest winners. We were only there to get their copies of the book. It was a little unfortunate that the children that showed up with with the winners were not invited to that part of the event.
I was in the 2nd group of 10 people to go to meet Madonna. When it was my turn, I walked up, shook her hand and said, ‘Hi. I’m Angel‘. (I have a tatoo on my arm that says Madonna Forever.) I showed her my tatoo and said ‘I got this tatoo for you.’ She said ‘Oh, wow.’
I said, ‘I dont have a kid with me. I don’t have any children.’
She said, ‘That’s Ok. This book will be for you then.‘
I said, ‘Thanks’ She said, ‘Your Welcome’.
I said, ‘I love your music.’ She said, ‘Thanks.’
I said, ‘Don’t ever stop making music.’ She said very quickly, ‘I wont!‘
And that was my little interaction with Madonna. I didn’t want to say all of those deep things about how she has been such an influence in my life, blah, blah blah. Because when I thought about saying that last night, I would start to cry, by just thinking about it. And I really didn’t want to start crying in front of Madonna. So I went with a more safe exchange about her music and how much I love it.
Aftwards, I felt good. I didnt feel like I was going to break down and cry. Although, I would have gladly accepted that. I think I really prepared myself to meet a woman, as opposed to meeting the woman we know as “Madonna“.
As for how she looked, I can’t give a great account on that because she was sitting down. Her hair was blond, short, casual. That’s all I can remember. It’s all a blur, really. Plus I think the lighting wasn’t that good. But it was such a good experience to finally get an autograph from Madonna. I never wanted to get one from Ebay memorabelia or anywhere else. I wanted to get mine from the woman herself! And 15 years later, my little dream came true. Now I have to dream a bigger dream.
Attached is the autograph from the book, ‘Lotsa de Casha‘, by Madonna.
Angel Love”
Lotsa de thanks to Angel Love for the report
