EW on celebrities’ children’s books
The February 4 issue of Entertainment Weekly features an article about celebrities writing children’s books and about how much do these books sale in the US.
“Seems every celeb is writing a kids’ book these days, but who’s buying them? According to Nielsen BookScan, which tracks sales at more than 7,000 outlets nationwide, as of Jan. 20 Billy O’Reilly’s “The O’Reilly Factor for Kids” has moved 165,000 copies since its November release – outshining other stars’ 2004 tomes, including Madonna’s “The Adventues of Abdi“.
“[Abdi] came on the wheels of two other successfull titles”, notes a rep for Madge, so I wouldn’t count her out as a children’s book author.
According to Nielsen BookScan, The Adventures of Abdi has sold 15,000 copies in the US so far.
