Fab Four – Music Limited Edition
In today’s corner devoted to collectable cds we take a look at the famous four limited editions of the Madonna album Music (2000).
Released along with the standard edition album these four cloth digipaks (Pink, Light Blue, Light Brown and Black) soon became the dream and nightmare of completist collectors. The Pink version was the version most easily found while the Black one was the scarcest.
To give more trouble to poor collectors, the European edition had an extra track, American Pie, hence a different back sticker. This edition contains a cd made in Germany by Warner Manifacturing Europe but the digipak itself is made in the Us.
This limited edition was also sold in Australia and Japan but the version distributed in those country was not made on the spot but simply the Us version.
After the initial “sold out” of American copies, more Us limited edition became available on the market worldwide as the Australian import, giving to the European version more collectable value.
Let’s also give a quick look at the Top 50 Rare Album list compiled by our friends at Spotlight Magazine and Lucky Records to see what position these releases made. Music Black edition is the rarest of the 4 and it can be found at number 17 of the Spotlight chart while the light Brown version is at number 32. Pink and Light Blue didn’t make the top 50.
Below are the two different stickers that can be found on the Us (Left) and Euro version (Right) of these cds.
