• “Madonna is a major influence on so many people including me.
Madonna has always been that person so many people could look up too.
To me she’s always been that older friend that had guided me.
So many people go through life alone and don’t have that.
Even at my lowest points when I felt things were bad, I could pop in a Cd by Madonna and feel better. At times when I was confused about things I asked to myself: What would Madonna do?
People always tell you anything is possible, you can do anything you set your mind too. Madonna is the living proof of that. One can only dream of having the drive that has steered Madonna her entire career.
I’ve always seen her career like it was a ride, kinda scary at times, but it looks fun as hell. Madonna has influenced me to get on my own rollercoaster and just enjoy it. Madonna has no road blocks, nothing stands in her way she plows right through them. Many people will sit there and criticize everything she does. I am a huge fan and sometimes I too have asked myself: What is she doing?
So I’ve learned that there are always going to be people telling you that you can’t, and there are always going to be obstacles in your way. All you have to do is knock them down. Thanks Madonna!”

• “Madonna is the Queen of music. She will always come back whatever she does. People love her and they adore her for the way who she is. She is her, self she doesn’t give a damn. My sister and I are both fans of Madonna, we love her music and she’s got style.
We never had a chance to see Madonna live in concert and we are pretty sure that we never will cause she will never come to Bosnia and perform live here because our country has political problems.
Everybody in this world should know that there is only one Madonna and you can’t duplicate her and we believe there is no soul and no place on this earth who has not heard of her.
She and her music will always live and she will never be forgotten by the people who love her.”

• “Hi My Name is Claire. This is my short essay on why Madonna is my true inspiration.
I became a Madonna fan around 5 years ago and now I think about it, if I didn’t buy that Ray of Light album, then who knows what I would be listening to now!
18 months ago I was diagnosed with Cancer in my leg. It was a major blow to my family and I. Six months of intense chemotherapy followed, but in the end the doctors decided I had to have my leg amputated.
This past year my life has been a long rollercoaster and the soundtrack to it was Madonna. Whenever I was feeling low I would stick on Like A Prayer and feel Madonna’s pain in her voice at the ending of a marriage, her mothers death and her rocky relationship with her father. Ray of Light gave me a reason to embrace life and realise how lucky I am to be living after all this turmoil.
On Monday 21st 2003 I had come back from a session of chemo, when my mother brought me M’s new album, American Life. I stuck on my headphones and listened to it all the way through. It was the most beautiful music ever especially Easy Ride and Intervention. These songs gave me hope to carry on with this fight.
Well things are now looking up. 🙂 I have started college, I’m receiving soon a better cosmetic and functioning leg and starting to enjoy life. After seeing Madge live at her Re-invention tour for the first time ever I was so happy I was there to ‘boogie-woogie’ with her….
P.S. when I’m older I am determined to have tattooed on my back the opening lines to Like A Prayer. Because truly, Life is A Mystery…”

• “I’m a 28 year old real estate profesional from the United States and have been a Madonna Fan for, well what seems like all my life! I grew up with her, pretended I was her on stage in my living room, and really have admired her for a long time.
Madonna has inspired me and helped me do a number if things, from speaking out and saying what I want people to hear, to changing my hair style every once in a while but most importantly she has inspired me by letting a lot of gay people out there know that it’s okay to be gay. She helped me “come out” of the closet to my parents.
I came out in my early 20’s, and it was pretty much one the hardest issues that I’ve ever had to come face to face with. I’ll never forget…I recorded the Blond Ambition Tour on HBO when I was like 14 or 15 and I just couldn’t get enough of her. Of couse my parents just thought I had a “crush” on her. Rather then I wanted to BE HER! I needed a microphone headset BADLY to perform Vogue and Express Yourself.
So I got creative as any other red blooded American gay male would, and I broke apart a wire hanger from my closet and shaped it to my head so that the end would go toward my mouth. I got few small peices of black electrical tape and balled it all up and put it on the end of the wire in front of my mouth and that was the microphone. I loved it! I now could Vogue and sing at the same time! Well, one day my mom and came and made me through it away. I was so bummed, but I made another one and made sure my door was locked. She never knew after that….
And then there was Truth or Dare. So many gay guys! And they were out and proud! I had never ever seen anything like it in my small town growing up. At that point, when I very first saw Truth or Dare I remember thinking, at 14, wow, there are places where these guys can be gay, and there are people like Madonna that are okay with it. I was in awe.
Anyway, if it wasn’t for Madonna‘s courage, I’m not sure I would have had the courage myself to be the person that I am today.
Thank you for letting me share my story. And thanks for this great site.”
