Hey Mrs DeeJay, put a record on
Madonna‘s pulsating PR monolith is running at full-tilt in the run-up to the release of her much anticipated new album, Confessions on a Dancefloor. In the space of a few days, the iconic first lady of pop has made two surprise appearances: one DJing at a hip New York nightclub; and a second giving a lecture at a New York university.
The Material Girl surprised punters at the West Village’s MisShapes, where she received a rapturous welcome as she stepped behind the decks with the producer of her new album, Stuart Price, better known as Jacques Lu Cont of the Les Rythmes Digitales. Madonna shouted to the crowd through a microphone: “You all have to relax and have fun and we’re going to play you some really good songs!”
House DJ, Junior Sanchez, told NME.com at the event: “Getting her to connect with today’s and tomorrow’s nightlife is where she needs to be because that is where she has always been.”
