Hung Up – SDP’ Extended Dub
On September 5 MadonnaTribe reported about Warner Music being looking forward to release an instrumental promo only vinyl of Madonna’s “Hung Up” to repeat on a larger scale what the album producer Stuart Price had tested during the past months at his dee-jay sets letting people in clubs hear instrumental/dub previews of the song before its radio release date.
A first 12″ promo has now been released and surfaced on online auction website ebay giving fans a chance to see how it looks like.
As you can see by the image on the right the record has a catalogue number of PRO-A-101645-A and has been explicitely labeled as “Hung Up – SDP’ Extended Dub“.
The track lenght is 7:56 and is an extended instrumental rendition of the Jack Guy version we hear in the Motorola commercial, with a very small amount of dub vocals and an extensive use of the sample from Abbas’ Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (a man after midnigh) which is also heavily dubbed.
The distinctive “busy” dial tone in use in the UK is sampled at the beginning, in the middle break and at the end of the track – that cuts off when a female voice can be heard saying “Please hang up and try again“.
