Jerry’s Live 8 Experience
“Dear Tribe,
Well, it’s 24 hours later and I still can’t believe how amazingly well Madonna made every single other act on the bill look like they were performing unrehearsed at the Glastonbury Festival. Playing to a crowd that quite clearly only wanted to sing along to cock-rock Bon Jovi numbers and cheer for Robbie Williams’ blatant attempt at crowd pleasing with the Queen cover and the Bono-esque jumping into the pit, (yawn! So much for not being Live Aid II), she won over a huge group of people that simply didn’t really appear to care for anyone much. Maybe selling the tickets would have helped with the lack of real interest.
Madonna‘s set was awesome. The choreography, as ever, was faultless, the songs perfect for the day and breath of fres air in a sea of drab indie-rock. Her voice held up perfectly and the intro from Bob Geldof was just the ticket. I also thought she looked amazing, oozing confidence like only our gal can.
It was amazing to hear ‘Ray of Light‘ again and ‘Like A Prayer‘ and ‘Music‘ just made me float on air. Being quite a way back in the crowd I was unable to see anything but the video screens, so it was great to get the odd glimpse of various tribers right at the very front showing their support.
Live 8 for me was superb for so many different reasons, I can only pray that it has the desired effect.
Best wishes,
Jerry”
