Live 8 sets stage for broadcasting deal
Live 8 is close to finding a TV home. AOL, which is handling the U.S. broadcast rights for the Bob Geldof concerts, is nearing a deal with MTV, sources said. The cable network will air some of the performances from five concerts set to take place on July 2.
AOL is also expected to announce a deal with XM Satellite Radio and has held discussions with ABC and Premiere Radio Networks, sources said.
AOL will stream the five concerts live for free on the Web at AOLmusic.com and will offer free on-demand access to the shows for six weeks. The concerts are aimed at raising awareness of poverty in Africa.Source: New York Daily News
