The first one is the name of the artist chosen to illustrate the book, painter Rui Paes. The second news concerns the promotion of the book itself, that will start in Portugal on june 1st, one week before the worldwide book release. No Madonna’s publicity appearances surrounding the launch of the book has been confirmed at the moment.
Our readers know that Lotsa de Casha, the character that gives its name to the book, is an italian greyhound – Rui Paes shares italian roots with the fictional character and was in Genoawhen he was contacted byCallaway Editions. The New York Times Magazine had published little time before an article on a room he painted in the Norvegian Castle in February 2003.
Madonna was seduced by his work at the castle and after four months Paes went to London to work to give a face to the characters she created.
Paes is an expert in the art of “trompe l’oeil” and his paintings are inspired by famous italian mansions as well as by the masterpieces of artists such as Rubens, Van Dyck e Bruegel.
