Madonna on the cover of ”Now” Live8 Special
Now, the UK’s number one celebrity weekly, is publishing a Live 8 pull-out in its issue on sale June 22. The special section will support the series of concerts initiated by Bob Geldof in a campaign to cancel debt in the world’s poorest nations. The twelve-page section features exclusive interviews with pop icon Madonna, rock legends Status Quo and Live 8 organiser Bob Geldof, plus a detailed programme and gossip spread.
Jane Ennis, Now editor, comments: “Live 8 is the biggest showbiz event of the summer and an opportunity to stop extreme poverty so we were keen to produce something special to support it. Now readers will be hugely interested in getting the inside track leading up to the event and this brilliant preview covers everything from the concert line-up and gossip to interviews with the stars and people behind Live 8.”
Live 8 is part of a day of action across the world which kick-starts The Long Walk to Justice that calls on the leaders of the world’s richest countries to act when they meet in Gleneagles on 6-9 July. On July 2 in London, Edinburgh, Washington, Berlin, Paris and Rome millions will be coming together to call for complete debt cancellation, more and better aid and trade justice for the world’s poorest people.
Performers at the London Live 8 concert include Madonna, Robbie Williams and Coldplay and the line-up in Edinburgh features Travis, Texas, Annie Lennox and Dido.
