Madonna Top Female artist in BBC Radio1’s Greatest Hits Poll

To celebrate UK’s 1000th number one single BBC Radio1 asked its listerners for their Greatest No.1. The poll had a massive response with 26,072 votes recorded. 233 songs received no votes.

Queen was the most voted for artist overall, mainly due to votes for Bohemian Rhapsody topping the list as their two other #1s (Innuendo & Under Pressure) only received a small amount of votes each.

Madonna was the most voted for female artist with Like a Prayer at number 4, Vogue at number 5 and Music at number 21, and seven other songs receiving votes.
She was also the only artist with two songs in the Top10 and Top20.
