Madonna wishing A Happy New Year to Dick Clark and Everyone on ABC
MadonnaTribe’s friend DyeAnotherDay reports:
“I was watching ABC right before midnight. Dick Clark, the popular U.S. personality who has hosted New Year’s Eve for about 30 years, suffered a stroke this week. Clark, of course, might have been the first person to introduce a large segment of the U.S. population to Madonna on his show “American Bandstand” in 1983 when Madonna announced “I want to conquer the world.” He was also the first person to congratulate Madonna after winning the Golden Globe for “Evita” and fought to get her onto “Live Aid.”
Regis Philbin, who was stepping in for Clark, said he had a very special message for Clark. Philbin has interviewed Madonna a few times on his popular morning show.”. Cut to Madonna, looking as if this might have been taped after her “Morning Show” interview.
Madonna said, (I’m trying to remember), “Dick, I hope you’re feeling better. We love you, we need you, we miss you, and get well soon. I’d like to wish you, and everyone watching tonight, a Happy New Year.”
