Madonna’s love for Frida
The first UK solo exhibition devoted to Frida Khalo opened on June 9 at London’s Tate Modern. The show includes several poignantly beautiful self portraits and lush and erotic still lifes by the celebrated Mexican painter now regarded as one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century and this will be the first major UK exhibition dedicated to her work to take place for over twenty years.
As our readers remember, Madonna lent two paintings of her personal collection to the exhibition – “Self-Portrait with Monkey” and “My Birth” – and is one of the celebrities fond of Frida’s art that the press quoted and referred to in the last days when reporting about the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until October 9 at the Tate Modern – becoming a perfect side dish for those who are visiting London for the live 8 concert in July. Advance booking is highly recommend – please dialo 020 7887 8888 or visit www.tate.org.uk/tickets. for further information.
