Meet Madonna’s publisher
The New York Sun publishes today an interesting interview with Nicholas Callaway, founder of Callaway Editions and publisher of the whole series of Madonna’s children’s books.
From the interview we learn a few interesting tidbits about Callaway’s work with The Queen of Pop.
It took a few years for him to persuade Madonna to write the books and when she had the stories ready she suggested for them to be published all in one volume:
“She sent the the manuscript for five stories at the same time, suggesting
that they might be published in one volume,” Mr. Callaway said. “I suggested
that they be published individually and the first of them, ‘The English Roses,’
was released in 40 languages simultaneously in September 2003 – a broader simultaneous co-edition than had
ever been achieved in publishing.” he told the newspaper.
Callaway and Madonna are now working on the sequel of the English Roses expected to be published on Fall 2006
