‘Neurotica: Madonna Re-Visited’ coincides with new single & album
David Gurland presents a newly updated version of his critically acclaimed tribute show Neurotica: Madonna Re-Visited.
Timed to coincide with the release of Madonna’s newest single and album, performances begin October 14 at Ace of Clubs.
Neurotica: Madonna Re-Visited features covers of twenty career-spanning songs made popular by the Material Girl.
Some are presented straight forward, some are radically re-envisioned; there are also unique medleys and mash-ups as well as some surprising non-musical moments. There will even be what is surely the first ever cover of “Hung Up” and those attending the opening night performance will get to hear the cover before the real version is actually released!
Blending pop, rock, theater and cabaret, Neurotica: Madonna Re-Visited is the next best thing to a live Madonna concert. In addition to Gurland, the show features arrangements and musical direction by Michael Holland, back-up vocals by Karen Mack and Jonathan Tomaselli, Jerry Smith on drums, and Marco Brehm on bass.
Neurotica: Madonna Re-Visited runs October 14 – November 11, Fridays at 8pm.
Ace of Clubs (9 Great Jones Street, inside Acme – accessible from the 6 train at Bleecker or the B,D,V,F trains at Lafayette). Tickets are $15; available at 212-352-3101 or www.TheaterMania.com.
