Mariam’s Memories
MadonnaTribe friend Mariam, fromfellow fansite MadonnaMemories.com is sharing today some of her memories from the first time she saw madonna live with our readers. It was 1987 and the who’s that girl tour…
“I can’t believe it’s been 18 years! But here it is, July 15, 2005 – the day I saw Madonna in concert for the “very first time” in Seattle, Washington at the
Kingdome in 1987.
Here is an original ad put out during that time to get tickets, (can you believe $21.00?) and a picture of Madonna while she was here staying at the Four Seasons. (I walk by that place every day now on my lunch breaks.)
And yes, that’s me holding my tour program after I saw her! The show was incredible, even from my crappy seat all the way back in the 200 level.
Now, don’t go feeling sorry for me, I did have front row on opening night for the Re-Invention Tour. I used binoculars and the giant video screens to help me see the queen. It was insane in the Kingdome and the loudest I have ever heard a show!

Madonna played with the crowd throughout the night. Right off the bat, she said, “This is the first place I ever played. This is my virgin city,” alluding to her three-night opener at the Paramount in April of 1985. She later said, “Hope it sounds better out there than it does up here,” due to our bad sound in the Kingdome. She pranced, she danced, she tore up the place! Earlier before the
show, she even gave an interview to a local radio station shaying what she liked about Seattle was our cooler weather, (considering how hot it had been in other places) and she liked our rain! No wonder she likes London so much. Lol
Anyway, it was a wonderful time and I am glad to share this memory with all of
you. Thanks!
