Rare Madonna footage at the Keith Haring exhibit in Milan
MadonnaTribe collaborators Gam and Maxvamp report from the new Keith Haring exhibit held at the Triennale in Milan.
While visiting the exhibit our reporters were struck by a documentary that was being projected there. The film, which tells Keith’s story through breathtaking images, contains never before seen footage of Madonna attending his birthday party, held on May 4th 1984.
In this rare footage the Queen of Pop gives the guests an exclusive sneak peek at the album she had just ended recording (Like A Virgin) by singing the song Dress You Up.
You can see a minute of her singing live on a pre-recorded music track the first and second verse of the song. Madonna was performing on a bed and apparently she had to look at some notebook to check the words of the song. Her dress was designed by Keith Haring (see image on the right).
At the exhibit there are also on display two rare images of Madonna. The first one is a Polaroid from 1984 when you can see her back, wearing a Haring jacket. The second one is from 1985, Virgin Tour era. Both photos are available in the exhibition’s programme book along with the essay on Haring written by Madonna in 1991, printed by Skira.
Thanks to Gam and Maxvamp for this exclusive report.
