Ray of Light on Entertainment Weekly
An interesting piece of news from the press just in by our friend G-Lock, who provides MadonnaTribe his interesting monthly column “Madge-ic Life“.
“Entertainment Weekly did a great two-page story on the death of the “album,” thanks to singles-minded record companies, the birth of downloading music, and the whole concept of popular culture “on demand.”
I have enclosed the article solely for the mention of Madonna’s Ray of Light as one of the critic’s examples of “albums” that he listens to in its entirety.
Although he doesn’t outright say it, a reader might conclude that he is likening Madge’s masterpiece, in addition to the other non-rock operas he listed, as “art.” Fine praise, indeed.”
