Seymour Stein tidbits about Madonna
The day after Seymour Stein‘s induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the press from the Big Apple collects tidbits and notes about the dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.
“Stein, who signed Madonna, said, “I knew she was good. But I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I said I knew she’d be as big as she is today,” the New York Daily News reports.
The New York Times recalls the famous anecdote about the day Madonna met Stein to sign her first Sire Record contract when he was in his hospital bed.
“I thought she was special when I first saw her.
I especially remember when she came to see me at the hospital when it was time to sign her first contract. I had been walking around in my hospital pajamas, opened back, hadn’t shaved, hadn’t washed…
When I heard she was coming, I got my barber to come up. Got the good pajamas. She didn’t even notice. She could have cared less.
I felt if I was laying in a coffin, she would have waved the papers in front of me.”
