Take responsibility for yourself and the world around you. Vote!
Madonna joined a host of stars who believe our stand is important for democracy last night, adding her voice to The Sun‘s Rock The Vote UK campaign – and urging people to head for the poll booths on May 5.
American-born Madonna, who lives in London with British film director husband Guy Ritchie, told Sun readers: “Take responsibility for yourself and the world around you. Vote!”
The Sun launched Rock The Vote to get every able-bodied person in the land out at the General Election, so they can have a say as to who runs the country. Their drive, which mirrors a similar US initiative, has already been backed by a string of top celebs, including Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow – who said: “It’s a great idea. It’s when politicians don’t think we care that they start doing the craziest things.” Pop Idol winner Will Young is also backing Rock The Vote and saiyd “If you want to be heard and try to make a difference, you must vote.” while Liberty X babe Michelle Heaton said: “It’s important to make the effort. Who I vote for could decide how much aid is set aside for underdeveloped countries.”
Other celebrities backing Sun’s campaign include singer Natasha Bedingfield, comics Frank Skinner and Al Murray, “X Factor” judge Simon Cowell, Blue star Duncan James, “Hell’s Kitchen” chef Gary Rhodes, ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, DJ Jamie Theakston, McFly singer Tom Fletcher, and soul beauty Beverley Knight.
