That Girl
For our friend and contributor DyeAnotherDay seeing Mariam‘s scan and story about the Who’s That Girl‘s stop in Seattle really brought back memories of seeing that show in L.A.
“I saw it 18 years ago tonight, at the Anaheim Stadium with about 45,000 other people. I saved this cover of Us Weekly that was on the stands during the tour – the single “Who’s That Girl” hit the Number One position on Billboard just as Madonna took the World Tour to Europe.
I usually don’t like outdoor shows. but I have to admit that seeing her outdoors really brought out something magical in Madonna’s skin – I’ve seen Madonna go on to do some amazing things, but I’ve never seen her look more beautiful than she did that night.
I was in the 10th row, and her body and her eyes were so breathtaking. She was only 28 years old and it had only been two years since her last tour, but she already had an incredible line-up of new material: “Open Your Heart,” “True Blue,” “Papa Don’t Preach,” “White Heat,” “Causing a Commotion,” “The Look of Love,” “Where’s the Party,” “Live to Tell,” “La Isla Bonita,” and “Who’s That Girl” were all new songs and Madonna was pure electricity.
What a great night that was.”
