The ”Legal Bootlegs” Made in Italy
Today in our Tribe corner devoted to collectable Madonna cds we start looking at that series of cds released in Italy at the beginning of the 90’s that can be easily considered as “legal bootlegs“.
According to an old Italian law, now changed, it was perfectly legal producing cds containing live performances as these kinds of recordings were considered “public domain” and not protected under patent or exclusive copyrights.
These cds, that were considered legal, all came with a Siae logo (Siae is the Italian Ascap) and nice professional artworks. Many Madonna shows were put on the market by different small indipendent labels between 1990 and 1995.
The first cd we’re showing our readers from this interesting series of releases is called Madonna – The Girlie Show and it’s a double cd set containing a live recording of the September 25 1993 show in London on cd 1 and some more bonus live tracks on cd 2, presented in a digipak long box.
