The Sun: Madonna to duet with Sting at Live 8
UK newspaper The Sun hints of a possible duet between longtime friends Sting and Madonna at the upcoming Live 8 concert in July. A similar rumour has been actually floating around on several UK media outlets and message boards in the last few days but there has been no official word on this so far.
“It’s a collaboration which will go down in history and is perfect for the biggest gig of the decade”, Victoria Newton reported in her “Bizarre” column.
“Pop superstar Madonna and Sting will reportedly provide a dazzling finale to the star-studded Live 8 charity concert – by performing an historic cover of John Lennon’s poignant classic “Imagine“.
The material girl has agreed to perform the moving duet with the former Police star, who played at the original 1985 Live Aid, to ensure the concert lives up to its billing as the biggest gig of the decade, reports British newspaper The Sun, whose insider says “They have had a discussion about performing a cover version. Madonna sang it on her re-Invention Tour.”
The pair will also perform solo pieces at the event in London’s Hyde Park on July 2, 2005.

The Sun quotes a source as saying: “They have had a discussion about performing a cover version. They thought about a Beatles song, or maybe Imagine. Madonna sang it on her Re-Invention tour.”
She will reportedly star in a late afternoon slot, while Sting will perform solo earlier in the day.It is said that they will join up for their duet shortly before the finale late in the evening.
