The Ultimate Pop Star

Yesterday night UK’s Channel4 aired The Ultimate Pop Star, a rundown of the 50 biggest-selling artists of all time, based purely on actual sales in the UK Singles Chart from the last 50 years. Once again Madonna is the female artists with the higher place in a chart topped by legendary artists like Elvis, The Beatles and Cliff Richard.

Madonna was featured at #4 with 15 million sales, nearly 5 million ahead of Elton John at #5 and twice as many singles ahead of other female acts like Kylie who was at around number 15 with 8 million sales.

Elvis made it at #3 with around 19 million, following the Beatles at #2 with around 20 million. The chart was topped by Cliff Richard with around 21 million of single sales.
